INTRODUCTION 2

Background:

When you study a history of Chile you can realize that both, in the beginning and during history of Chile had been numerous ethnic groups that had played particular role into the process of construction of national identity. Diaguitas, Incas, Germans, Frenchs, etc. had been someone that are describe in the history, but two groups had mainly been the prominence and recognition like the racial base of Chilean people, this groups are Spaniards and Mapuches. During of last decades, in Chile have been born a movement fighting to the recognition of our African heredity, it means that the state of Chile recognize and make visible the presence of black people in Chile. This movement is named afro-descendants.

Problem:

During whole history of Chile, the authorities had denied the existence of black people in this country. The afro-descendants are based in Arica, in the north of Chile, in fact a lot of people that live in this city and their vicinity are afro-descendants because this city until before war of pacific belongs to Peru. When Arica was a Peruvian territory a lot of their population was compound by black people, however, when the city was converted a Chilean territory the state of Chile began to persecute this people and delete the afro heredity of history of Chile.

Proposed Solution:

Recently, the grandsons and granddaughter of first Chilean afro people want to be visible by society and history. In this case, the state of Chile must take the guilty for mistakes of past and create a public politic about afro-descendants to that they can start to walk into the forgive way and finally they can feel integrated in Chilean identity.
